Available Tools
Your assistant lists the tools automatically. You do not have to name them: describe what you want in plain language and the assistant chooses the tools. Some clients show the tool names with the server name in front, for example mcp__sesam__workspace__list_scenarios.
Overview
| Area | What you can do |
|---|---|
| Workspace | Organize projects and scenarios: list, rename, copy, export, upload and delete them; show their traffic lights. |
| Builder | Find the area around an intersection, address or place, and build a new scenario for it, with random traffic and traffic flows. |
| Simulations | Run simulations with one or more runs, follow them, rename, export and delete them. |
| Analysis | Understand the results: key figures, congestion hotspots, trips, routes, comparison of variants. |
| Account | Show your plan, its limits and your remaining quota. |
A typical session combines several areas:
- Build a scenario for an area, or upload one (Builder, Workspace).
- Simulate it with a few runs (Simulations).
- Analyze where traffic jams and which trips suffer (Analysis).
- Compare a changed variant with the first simulation (Analysis).

Good to know
Deleting needs confirmation
Removing a project, a scenario or a simulation that contains data deletes everything in it permanently. The tools refuse to do this unless the assistant explicitly confirms it. Most assistants additionally ask you before they run such a tool. Read the request carefully before you approve it.
Plan and limits
MCP uses the same limits as the web interface and the REST API. Builds, uploads, simulation runs and ZIP downloads count against your daily quota or may not be part of your plan. If SESAM refuses an action because of your plan, the assistant tells you so. You can ask it to show your plan and remaining quota (accounts__get_plan_and_usage).
Waiting times
Building and uploading take some time. The assistant waits up to 10 minutes and shows the progress. If this time is exceeded, the process keeps running in SESAM and the scenario appears in your Workspace when it is finished. Simulations may take longer: the assistant waits up to 1 hour. After that the simulation keeps running in SESAM and can be followed with workspace__get_simulation.
Error messages
If SESAM rejects a request, for example because a value is not allowed or a limit is reached, the assistant receives the reason and can correct the request or explain it to you.
